GIFT CARD HOLDERS

The first one was made using Soft Suede CS and holiday background paper.  I cut the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and also with the 1" circle punch for removal of the gift card.  2-way glue was used on the top inside edge.  I let that dry so it could open and close several times if necessary.  I colored rhinestones with a red marker and applied to the tree image on the front panel for a little bling.

I used Real Red, Whisper White CS, silver and red Glimmer Paper for this holder.  I used the Tree Punch on the silver and red Glimmer Paper and the Scallop Punch on the Whisper White CS and the 1" circle punch on the inside edge.  I cut a 1" wide background paper for the belly band and attached the scalloped punch and trees to the belly band to hold the holder closed.

Wreath Framelits from the annual catty.

I got the idea from my upline and made a totally different design.

The Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item 139673) has been so popular that Stampin Up is going to do something that they don't normally do: they've decided to bring it back in the 2016 annual catalog! On Stage 2015

I had a great time at the Midwest Regional Stampin Up Conference at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee this past weekend. There were 24 demonstrators from my group attending from across the state and Wisconsin had the most attendees for all the regional conferences.  The live conference was held in Belgium but simultaneous regional conferences were held in the US and around the world.

We got time to play with several new stamp sets from the 2016 Spring Occasions Catalog and I put my order in already for one of the bundles and will be placing another order in December.

Herringbone technique

 

This card is made using the herringbone technique - an arrangement or design consisting of columns of short parallel lines, with all the lines in one column sloping one way and all the lines in the next column sloping the other way so as to resemble the bones in a fish, used especially in the weave of cloth or the placing of bricks.  It's fun and easy and a great way to use up old Designer Papers.  I chose my papers to be close in colors and cut them 3/4" wide.  Enjoy! 

GUY CARD

I CASED this card from another demonstrator with just a little change.  I'm trying to make more "guy" type cards because it seems like we have so many flower type stamp sets and I think we have to be more creative ourselves to make a card that a guy might like.

I used the masking and sponging technique to create this one layer card using the Wetlands stamp set.

Wax Paper Resist Technique

 

I love the butterfly thinlet and I used the wax paper resist technique for this card.  Nothing goes to waste.  I use wax paper under the thinlet to keep the little cutout pieces from sticking to the thinlet and I ended up with a perfect butterfly out of cardstock to use on one card and the was paper image to use on this card.

BLENDABILITIES UPDATE:  There have been continued quality issues with the Blendabilities Markers product line.  Due to the nature of the defect (see below), Stampin' Up! has concluded that difficulties, dissatisfaction, and product returns will only become more widespread. The manufacturer is unable to correct the problem in a manner that Stampin' Up! is certain would meet their high quality standards and provide them with a stable, long-term solution. Therefore, after a great deal of deliberation and in order to prevent further disappointment, the Blendabilities product line has been discontinued.

BLENDABILITIES Q & A

Q: Will the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad (item #132708) and the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad Refill (item #133456) still be available for purchase?
A: Yes. These items will continue to be available for purchase.  The Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad is my FAVORITE every day black ink.  So happy!

Q: What are the quality problems with this product?
A: When the tip is welded to the barrel, the welding process can leave microscopic (invisible) holes in the marker tip. This leads to accelerated evaporation of the alcohol in the ink.

Q: Are all Blendabilities markers defective?
A: No. Most Blendabilities markers work as intended and I personally haven't experienced the drying issue but am aware of it from customers and fellow demonstrators.  

Q:  What if I have Blendabilities markers that are defective?  If you ordered them through me, please email me for assistance.  If not, please contact the demonstrator you ordered them through.

I made these cards over the years and don't think I ever shared them here.  They may give you some ideas for your Easter cards this year. I didn't always have an Easter stamp set but could use other stamps and punches to create my cards.

Tips and Tricks

 

 

Use 1-4 dryer sheets from your local dollar store with intricate dies. No more poking and tearing my card stock.

 

"We don't make mistakes-just happy accidents".  It's an opportunity to put an embellishment or additional stamping on the mistake - OR we are sure glad we have two sides of the card stock!

The use of Post-It Notes! To holding thinlits/framlits in place, to "block" stamp, etc. Use post it notes to hold smaller pieces of paper in a punch --saves on waste. Seems like there is a new idea for these little papers every week and that's why I have several packets or all sizes.

When tying a ribbon around a layer on a card front or around a package, place a glue dot where the first part of your knot/bow will be. Stick that first knot onto the glue dot and it will stay tight. This leaves both hands free to finish the knot or bow. No more holding a finger down on the knot to keep it tight!
